starbends My Dad is a Gingersol fan, and sent me their stuff a few weeks back. I deeply connected to it, and the songwriting. Since then, I've come across Steve's solo stuff, and it's just as profound. Truly one of the best songwriters of this generation, and this album really touches me. Thank you Steve; i was an outsider, too <3 Favorite track: Outsider.

Outsider 04:20
Outsider I was an out sider But I didn’t know it Something was different I thought we’d outgrow it I was an outsider And I’d never make it With different opinions I’d never break in You know you don’t, you don’t belong here You know you don’t, you don’t belong here You know you don’t, you don’t belong here You know you don’t, you don’t belong I was an outsider Wth a different beginning Too far from the middle Too close to the ending I was an outsider From a different tradition I didn’t know it But I’d never fit in You know you don’t, you don’t belong here You know you don’t, you don’t belong here You know you don’t, you don’t belong here You know you don’t, you don’t belong here I know I don’t, I don’t belong here I know I don’t, I don’t belong here I know I don’t, I don’t belong here I know I don’t, I don’t belong I was an outsider With a different beginning Too far from the middle Too close to the ending Words and music by Steve Tagliere Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG

Free 04:38
Free Wishes slip out each open window Hope is easing out of your lungs The more you tried to learn how to balance Is when it all came undone They might not ever used what you gave them But you left it and they’ll sort it out At first it was hard to get used to But it was worth what you’ve found Now you’re free Gotta show ‘em what you want ‘em to see You got ‘em on the edge of their seats not knowing when or what to exaggerate Now you’re free Gotta wake ‘em up to sound the retreat or leave ‘em with the shadow complete They’re not sure what you mean What you’re makin’ up Or where you’re caliin’ from You stood it up a move to draw fire Had a hunch of where it might hide Your guess became the industry standard And then the industry died Now we pass around the pitiful premise The past is blamed for showing up late You put it off then wish it was over Keep the truth out of frame Now you’re free Gotta show ‘em what you want ‘em to see You got ‘em on the edge of their seats not knowing when or what to exaggerate Now you’re free Gotta wake ‘em up to sound the retreat or leave ‘em with the shadow complete They’re not sure what you mean What you’re makin’ up Or where you’re caliin’ from Now you’re free Gotta show ‘em what you want ‘em to see You got ‘em on the edge of their seats not knowing when or what to exaggerate Now you’re free Gotta wake ‘em up to sound the retreat or leave ‘em with the shadow complete They’re not sure what you mean What you’re makin’ up Or where you’re caliin’ from Words and music by Steve Tagliere (2020) all rights reserved Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG

Van Nuys Syndrome Felt like summer but it was barely spring I would’ve traded almost anything I had no power I was not in charge I was a captive but born to play the part When you called me I was so very weak Couldn’t hold my head up I couldn’t turn a cheek I had three wishes but I was not in charge I wasn’t ready and they played a different card You told me I should take it back So much easier to listen to the needle move You told me I could take it back So much harder when only know which way to go Conditions placed on what you hold I couldn’t picture any other choice Without perspective, I couldn’t see a point Was less convenient but I was not in charge To break the pattern and play it from the heart When you called me I was at the end Already broken I’d never clear the fence I had a feeling but I was not in charge I took the serum in time to fall apart You told me I should take it back So much easier to listen to the needle move You told me I could take it back So much harder when only know which way to go Conditions placed on what you hold You told me I should take it back So much easier to listen to the needle pull You told me I could take it back So much harder when only know which way to go What’s possible could set me free To reach for what you can’t believe It’s possible It’s real Words and music by Steve Tagliere (2020) all rights reserved Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG

Harder To See Got the triple 0 Got the mid range Parkin’ long term What can you do about it You saw the empties A triple homicide It smells like gasoline What can you do about it Quick sand is different than the high tide This aint the first time you wound up on the wrong side A glowing blowtorch On the window sill Never coolin’ off What can you do about it Blowin’ reveille It’s never supper time You got your hour back What can you do about it Layoffs are crashin’ through the weekend This aint the first time you fell asleep in the wrong tent Want it to feel like it going somewhere It’s starting to look like you might not care It needs to breath but there’s not enough air It’s harder to see us ever getting’ there Chewed the wires Chewed the gasline A better mouse trap What can you do about it Cut the cast foo Pulled the stitches out Need a sponge bath What can you do about it Drawbridge is different than the lights out Sendin’ us a message before they both fall down In the fine print In the junk drawer With your tone of voice What can you do about it Got a bad tube Got your arms crossed We’re watchin’ Happy Days What can you do about it Round up the ones that you can still stand This aint the first time you couldn’t follow the plan Want it to feel like it going somewhere It’s starting to look like you might not care It needs to breath but there’s not enough air It’s harder to see us ever getting’ there Want it to feel like it going somewhere It’s starting to look like you might not care It needs to breath but there’s not enough air It’s harder to see us ever getting’ there It’s harder to see It’s harder to see Words and music by Steve Tagliere (2020) all rights reserved Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG

Can’t Cheat An Honest Man Sometimes while I sleep I fight you in my dreams It’s not where I belong But I wake up with a song I struggle with regret Discerning what you left How the stories change All the foolishness erased Intentions and reality Did you ever have a plan Exactly how it would work out Can’t cheat an honest man I guess you didn’t know Examples that might stick Always walked away from it How would we be taught When the good fight wasn’t fought How would you explain All our paychecks down the drain Too much left for hope The word became a joke Intentions and reality Did you ever have a plan Exactly how it would work out Can’t cheat an honest man Without the work or follow through Would it end up in your hands You gambled and we paid for it Can’t cheat an honest man I guess you didn’t know I guess you didn’t know You worked it out Nothing is owed Words and music by Steve Tagliere (2020) all rights reserved Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG

Before It Gets Away There’s nothing in your pocket But there’s something on your breath You’re not sure if you’ve lost it But you’re gonna need a friend Hold on to a bad choice Or start to let it go I see you in my memory But there’s things I’ll never know What you’ve lost What you’ve got What comes after Make it stop Or bring it on Or take it backwards Before it gets away It’s bigger than a feelin’ It’s deeper than a need It’s become so overwhelming The film plays on repeat But this might be a window An opportunity To question all the barking Or find a different tree What you’ve lost What you’ve got What comes after Make it stop Or bring it on Or take it backwards Before it gets away There’s still some thing to save Or maybe let it break Words and music by Steve Tagliere (2020) all rights reserved Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG

The Only Hypocrite (in the family) Everybody has a reason And I’m supposed to understand I’m supposed to be the hostage But I never get released Even after meeting the demands Nobody knows Nobody knows Nobody knows how hard it is No body know Nobody knows Nobody knows how hard it is To be the only hypocrite in the family Everybody has a reason For going off the rails The conditions have conditions And it feels less like love More like betrayal Nobody knows Nobody knows Nobody knows how hard it is Nobody know Nobody knows Nobody knows how hard it is To be the only hypocrite in the family Everybody has a reason For all the crazy shit they say For every broken promise Every abandoned bargin So close to God so far away Everybody has answer It never applies to them Standards so much higher The pattern of a liar You start with what you think you outta get Nobody knows Nobody knows Nobody knows how hard it is No body know Nobody knows Nobody knows how hard it is To be the only hypocrite in the family To be the only hypocrite in the family To be the only hypocrite in the family To be the only hypocrite in the family Words and music by Steve Tagliere (2020) all rights reserved Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG

California Head Fake so prophetic misunderstood you still ignore it and maybe you should we heard the ticking but never agreed on what was coming or what it might mean Her eyes don’t make me sad My memories are lost But I recall the tune And how I made it stop Hair and feathers claws and teeth Felt familiar but still incomplete Just as the laughter was once applause The consequence would one day be the cause The words don’t sting like this We’ll never wring them out I don’t remember why Did we have time to count California, California, California When you left it you didn’t think you’d care You can’t go home now ‘cause home it isn’t there A baby’s first steps could lead the way But I never knew you and I have no one to blame It’s your promised land but it’s more complex for me I left betrayed and returned an enemy We got up early to pay our dues They took the payments and blocked our view So we just listened until you grew Then you could see it but I couldn’t see you You twist all the knobs But it still sounds like pride The best will have to do All the other lies California, California, California We buried grandma where victory bends You should’ve been there no help again Change direction but never move ahead Change excuses and they’ll get you in the end Every light goes out But they come back on You always wanted in But you never had a song Looks refreshing but it’s not how it seems Looks like water but it’s gasoline The disappointment the empty rows Gain the world and lose your soul Used or being used To lead or lead astray The words that help you out It’s what you meant to say California, California, California California, California, California

Sad Resolve 05:09
Sad Resolve Livin’ with what you said Is changing the way I feel Are you sorry because it’s wrong Or sorry because it’s real Livin’ with what you said Is changing the things I need Are you sorry for what you lost Or sorry what it means I wont hold a grudge Wont let it eat me up But I can’t trust you anymore Livin’ with with all your strife Is changin’ how I forgive I see where to draw the line I know I can’t let it in I wont hold a grudge Wont let it eat me up But I can’t trust you anymore I wont sacrifice To help you nurse your pride And I’m sorry you’re alone Livin’ with what you said Has changed who I wanna be Words and music by Steve Tagliere (2020) all rights reserved Pablo honey music BMI Chyrsalis BMG
